Came back from the Patti Smith concert by the sea, and it has been beyond my sweetest dreams, Patti was breathtaking, her performance of ‘birdland’ was vibrating through her adoring fans hitting us like a lightning of the highest voltage. What a concert! Which was finished off with the divine 'GLORIA'. Oh man the woman is electrifying. Thank you Patti for the best concert I have ever seen.

I went to see the SPECTACULAR Patti Smith on Tuesday night, I have entered the room filled with all of her adoring fans, we were immersing ourselves in her brilliance, warmth & intelligence, hanging on her every word. I mean it is utterly ridiculously gushing but she is so unbelievably extraordinary. I managed to get my copy of 'Just Kids' and my beloved 'Horses' vinyl signed! I'm not sure if I was really excited about the signature, it was more about the opportunity to stand next to her greatness.

My Patti moment is not quite over as tonight I'm off to Bexhill to watch her perform at the De La Warr Pavilion. I honestly cant wait…

Well it has been longer than a while... so a quick update: I've been devouring books, discovering the 70s New York punk scene and fell in love with Patti Smith (who isn't?), I moved to a beautiful new home, got married (the most magical day of my life with all of our beloved family and friends) Went to Brazil on our honeymoon (Incredible!) and now getting excited about the year ahead... 2011 is going to be fabulous x

I have just finished devouring the Serge Gainsbourg biography ‘a fistful of gitanes’ which was absolutely wonderfully poetic. If I always thought I would love to learn French, understanding the poetry of Serge should be an incentive on its own. The book of course feels somewhat melancholy towards the end of Serge’s life but somehow I feel good, in fact I feel great that Serge existed and that his wonderful music is in my life.

Well John Cale just simply had to wait, as a new shiny yellow package arrived and I eagerly unwrapped Bebe Buell's book! I have just finished it and it was delicious. I'm not so sure how I feel about Bebe, it is amazing how much personal information you can read about a person and yet feel so distant and quite frankly perplexed. None the less she is one feisty alluring and fascinating character, Vive La Buell!

Recently I have been reading biographies relentlessly, so I thought I’ll start with a book I really couldn’t put down, ‘No Lifeguard on Duty’ was written by the larger than life Janice Dickinson, illustrating her incredible existence from an extremely unpleasant childhood to the strength and tenacity to succeed as a model and to the internal emotional struggle to find herself. The story laced with drugs, alcohol, humour and men (a lot of men) is brutally honest and captivating.

I recently saw again the film 'Army of Shadows' by Jean-Pierre Melville. I really can’t recommend this film enough from its extraordinary use of colour and texture to the remarkable acting to the heroic story it tells. Please watch this masterpiece!
